Basic FBA to BIP
Basic FBA to BIP is a set of professional development materials designed to build capacity in schools and school districts to support students with challenging behavior and the teachers and staff who work with them.
Goals of Basic FBA to BIP are to:
1) Build School Capacity to design and support effective Tier 3 behavior support,
2) Improve School Systems to promote efficient and effective individual student support, and
3) Create a Supportive School-wide Culture through a common language across all staff.
Overview
Basic FBA to BIP is designed to:
(1) Build school capacity by increasing the number of staff in schools with skills to design and support effective Tier 3 behavior support,
(2) Improve School Systems by implementing school procedures and practices that promote efficient and effective individual student support, and
(3) create a Supportive School-wide Culture for supporting students with challenging behavior by training all staff in a common language for understanding behavior and behavioral intervention.
Build School Capacity
Tools and guidelines for training the skills to provide effective behavior support for students with recurring challenging behavior in schools.
Improve School Systems
Tools and guidelines for meetings, practices, and data that are the foundation for effective, systemic implementation of Basic FBA to BIP.
Supportive School-wide Culture
Tools and guidelines for training for all staff in a common language and framework for understanding behavior and intervention for students with challenging behavior.
Planning for Effective Use
The key to effective professional development and eventual implementation is initial planning and preparation.
OUR WORK
Our passion is supporting students with challenging behavior in schools. Basic FBA to BIP is an ongoing project striving to make function-based intervention more accessible, effective and efficient for school implementation across all levels of support. We also support implementation of universal (Tier 1) and targeted (Tier 2) supports for students at risk of behavioral concern, understanding that a school-wide approach is essential to maximizing school resources and creating school environments in which we can maximize our supports for all students and particularly those students with recurring problem behavior.
Opportunities for support include university courses including our on-line coaching certificate for School-wide PBIS.
